| "Aunt Lena's Little Newspaper" enjoyed great popularity in Greece in the 1950s. |
|
Imagine my surprise and great delight when I stumbled onto "The Little Newspaper of Aunt Lena," in our public library while growing up in Greece in the late 1950s.
This little booklet (8" x 8") contained the very first nativity I had ever seen. Need I say that it began a life-long pasion for these 3-dimensional models of the Nativity?
Iissued by the publishing firm of N. Alikiotis and Sons, "The Little Newspaper of Aunt Lena" was written by popular children's author Antigone Metaxa.
as Theia Lena (Aunt Lena) she endeared herself to Greek children who also happily anticipated her weekly radio program.
"The Little Newspaper of Aunt Lena" was issued twice a month, and collected and bound in treasured volumes.
Dimensions: This little crib measures6.5" wide x 6" high.
